FALL DETOX 2024

Have you ever been in so much pain, emotionally or physically, that it feels hopeless to dig your way out?

We've all been there. That dark place that feels impossible to crawl out of. When you've been hurt by life, by situations and circumstances outside your control, your initial instinct can be to lapse into self-destructive patterns to gain some sense of control. It's almost as if you believe hurting yourself will somehow get back at the people or things that hurt you. Until you realize hurting yourself is really only hurting yourself...not the world that has wronged you.

Self-destructive behavior doesn't do anything to equalize the karmic debt of these painful situations. It won't award you recognition or a medal of honor for enduring the most amount of pain. Whether you are unable to commit to a healthy lifestyle, numbing with food, drugs, or alcohol, hiding in work & To-Do lists, torturing yourself with excessive exercise, or using other distractions from reality...these are momentary delusion, avoidance, and numbness strategies that work like a band-aid to cover up what really needs to be addressed...and only dig you deeper into despair.

Because while you are being distracted by your self-destructive behavior, you don't address what you actually have control over to improve your situation. So things don't get better. They get worse. (It seems obvious that self-destructive behavior leads to self-destruction...but when you're in pain, nothing is obvious. And your subconscious will do a lot of things to get you out of pain, even when they're not necessarily helpful.)

But, with age & experience, you can gain different coping mechanisms for dealing with hurt. Instead of relying on your old standby of self-destruction, you can do the opposite -- nurture your body and mind through the pain. Through simple methods that focus on actionable steps day-by-day to get you back on your feet, you prove to yourSELF that you are in control of your life and happiness...no matter what happens in the world around you. And the more you follow through on these easy, daily steps, the more momentum you build in a positive direction...and the easier it is to take the next step and make the right choices that will heal you.

That sounds so much better than self-destruction & obliteration, right? But, in all seriousness, it can be REALLY HARD to get started on this path. Taking those first few steps to turn your momentum around from diving into despair to climbing out of the rut can be astronomically difficult.
