So many of us are well-informed about health and fitness in this age where we have personal computers at our fingertips 24/7. But many of us are missing that vital second step where we implement that knowledge in real life. The doing.

I'm guilty of it too. I know what foods make me feel best, the self-care routines that make me look my best, how much sleep I need to be healthy, & how to train to perform optimally. But that doesn't mean I can always follow through on that plan.

Life gets in the way, compromising your focus. And that's okay. Living your life rigidly adhering to these optimal rules and schedules isn't healthy either. That defeats the purpose of really LIVING.

I follow the 80/20 rule most of my life where I try to be "good" 80% of the time and don't stress about falling off plan when dinners, events, vacations, work obligations, & special circumstances get in the way the other 20%. Because honestly, the stress of strictly following your ideal diet and workout plan 24/7/365 causes waaaaaaayyyyyy more damage than good. Trust me. Been there done that.

That's why I like to work on myself in phases, especially when it comes to diet. True confession...I love food. And I love enjoying all the pleasures this life has to offer. But every once and a while, the "treating" gets out of hand, and I actually crave healthy discipline and structure.

I need to rein things in to get back on track and shift my momentum in the positive direction to get results and build a body I feel confident in. Focusing hardcore on mySELF for a 2-week DETOX period — the food I eat, the sleep I get, the self-care I give — helps realign everything with my health and fitness goals. At the end of the DETOX, I always feel like I have a new lease on life... fresh hope, excitement, & confidence.
